Asexual Reproduction
Bread mold reproduces sexually and asexually. Sporangiophores, which are special hyphae, create sporangiums. These sporangiums are bulbs at the tip of the sporangiophore. Inside the sporangiums are spores. When these spore are released, they are carried by the air to other environments. When they land, they begin to grow, and new bread mold is formed. This asexual reproduction occurs more frequently than sexual reproduction.
Sexual Reproduction
Though bread old does not have two distinct genders, they are negative and positive hyphae. When these hyphae come together, a zygote froms, which grows into zygospore. This zygospore can become dormant for many months, during which meisosis occurs. Then out of the zygospore comes a sporangium.
